One Utility Bill is an exciting start-up based in Ouseburn, Newcastle. We make setting up and paying for bills really easy by consolidating household bills into one simple monthly payment. We have 4 different brands catering to different markets; from families to students, landlords, and letting agents, we have a package to suit everyone.

We’re looking for a knowledgeable, experienced and passionate professional to help us grow and manage our greatest assets: our people and culture. You will ensure we have robust HR policies and processes in place whilst establishing One Utility Bill as an employer of choice across the North East. You’ll also provide comprehensive support to our managers and assist them with handling HR and personnel related issues within their teams.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the employee lifecycle including the recruitment process (writing job descriptions, interviewing and overseeing the onboarding process), onboarding and inductions and exit interviews and offboarding;

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of employment law legislation ensuring that those requirements are adhered to at all times throughout the company;

  • Production and administration of all HR documentation particularly employment contracts and offer letters and maintaining comprehensive  all personnel records;

  • Establishing close relationships with managers and provide them with advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures, employment issues and legislation;

  • Supporting managers with continuously monitoring employee performance and ensure appropriate performance management processes are in place and adhered to;

  • Conducting investigations, disciplinaries and grievances with relevant departmental managers in a timely manner;

  • Reinforcing our company culture to ensure One Utility Bill is consistently a fun, supportive and results-driven work environment for everyone. 

About you

To be successful in the role you will: 

  • Have demonstrable experience in a similar role, including recruitment experience;

  • Have a solid knowledge of employment legislation and its application;

  • Be genuinely interested in and excited about the happiness and satisfaction of the employees you support and embrace our dedicated approach to maintaining a fantastic working culture;

  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy at all times. 

  • You’ll also preferably have experience working in a startup environment.
